The Bangladesh Bank has asked the scheduled banks to ensure emergency banking services in the flood-hit areas with the help of nearer branches and sub-branches.

The central bank’s Department of Off-Site Supervision (DOS) issued a circular in this regard on Sunday.

According to the circular, due to floods normal banking activities are not possible in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Rangpur, Kurigram and some other districts.

As many branches and sub-branches remained closed due to flood, customers need to be ensured of banking services through the nearest branches.

However, when the flood situation will improve, banks must open the closed branches/sub-branches and ensure banking services as quickly as possible, it added.
