BB to issue commemorative coin marking anniv of Bangladesh-Japan relations

A commemorative silver coin of Taka 50 will be issued by Bangladesh Bank in February, marking the "50th Anniversary of Bangladesh-Japan Diplomatic Relations".

Bangladesh Bank and Japan Mint have jointly minted the coin, said a Bangladesh Bank press release on Monday.   

After issuance, the commemorative coin will be available for sale in Bangladesh and Japan.

Bangladesh Bank will initially sell the coin to its customers through Motijheel Office and Taka Museum, Mirpur.

Japan Mint will sell the coin to its Japanese customers in Japan.

This Tk 50 denominated commemorative silver coin is round shaped and 35mm in diameter.

Each coin composes of 0.925 Fine Silver weighing 20 grams.

Obverse of the coin is inscribed with '50th Anniversary of Bangladesh-Japan Diplomatic Relations' logo in the middle using colour printing technology.

Bunches of Cherry flower in stalk (national flower of Japan) above the logo and Water lily with bud floating on the water (national flower of Bangladesh) below the logo is also inscribed.

Besides, denomination of the coin is inscribed at the left side of the logo in Bengali and in English.
