The Bangladesh Bank on Monday decided not to consider the application of Agrani Bank that sought exemption from the penalty imposed on the state-run bank because of submission of a false CIB report.
The decision was made at a meeting of the central bank board of directors with Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder in the chair.
Earlier, the Bangladesh Bank slapped a fine of Tk 5 lakh on the Agrani Bank for submission of a false CIB (Credit Information Bureau) report.
The meeting, however, discussed several issues, including the Tk 25,000 crore refinance scheme for Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (CMSMEs) and a special refinance scheme for cultivating wheat and maize, as per the meeting source.
