BFIU seeks bank details of Tabith, family members

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked the banks for providing detailed information on the accounts and transactions of BNP leader Tabith M Awal and three of his family members.

The family members include Tafsir M Awal, Tajwar M Awal and Maya Margherita Barolo Rizvi Awal.

Tabith, Tafsir and Tajwar are the sons of BNP leader Abdul Awal Mintoo while Margherita is the wife of Tafsir Awal.

The BFIU, working to fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, sent the letters to the banks on Monday and asked them to send the information by Thursday.

The intelligence unit also asked the financial institutions for providing information about the account details of Monsoon Holdings Ltd.

Tafsir is the proprietor of the company.
