The Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday asked banks to remain open on a limited scale in industrial areas across the country, including in Dhaka city, on June 27 and June 28 – which are public holidays.

A central bank notice states that the decision has been taken to facilitate payments of salaries, wages and festival allowances to garment workers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on June 29.

The notice adds that banking services will be available in Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram on the above-mentioned days.

Customers will be able to avail services between 10am and 2pm on June 27 and June 28, while the bank working hours will be from 10am to 3pm.
