The Bangladesh Bank has barred Ron Haque Sikder, a director of the National Bank, from participating in any decision-making meeting of the institution, without express permission from the regulator.
This directive came in a Bangladesh Bank letter issued back on July 26 this year, sources told The Business Post.
It mentions that though Sikder was re-elected as a director of the National Bank at its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August last year, he cannot attend any bank meetings as yet.
This restriction includes meetings of the board of directors, executive committee and risk management committee.
According to regulations, the central bank must provide the final approval to a director before he/she can get involved in the bank’s decision-making activities.
