Sikder Insurance declares 3% cash dividend for 2023

The newly listed Sikder Insurance Company Limited has declared a 3 per cent cash dividend for the year 2023.

The company made the announcement through a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange website on Wednesday. This was the company's first dividend declaration since its listing earlier this year.

The company's Annual General Meeting will be held on September 26, with the record date set for July 25.

The newly listed general insurer's earnings per share (EPS) increased by 9.83 per cent to Tk 1.34 for the year that ended on December 31, 2023, up from Tk 1.22 in the previous year.

The company's net asset value (NAV) per share was at Tk 30.49 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) at Tk 0.36 for the year that ended on December 31, 2023. The amounts were Tk 28.73 and Tk 2.27, respectively, for the year that ended on December 31, 2022.

According to the audited financial report for 2022, the company’s EPS stood at Tk 1.22 while its NAV per share was at Tk 28.73, excluding revaluation.

At the end of December 2022, the company’s net premium stood at Tk 20.24 crore, which was Tk 11.87 crore in 2021.

The company's total assets stood at Tk 181.29 crore and the total reserve and surplus was at Tk 44.96 crore at the end of December 2022.

The company, which started operations in July 2013, underwrites major insurance businesses such as fire accidental damage on property, marine cargo, marine hull, liability insurance, aviation, motor, engineering, and miscellaneous.

The company went public in December 2023 after raising Tk 16 crore from investors using the fixed price method.
