Zahirul Islam made Popular Life Insurance chairman

PHP Family Director Mohammed Zahirul Islam has been elected the chairman of Popular Life Insurance Company Limited recently.

The decision was made in the 260th board meeting of Popular Life Insurance, Alamgir Firoz, deputy managing director of the company’s Public Relations Department, confirmed on Tuesday.

He is also managing director of PHP Spinning Mills and PHP Ispat and contributed massively in country’s eco-friendly ship breaking and recycling Industry and also represents the association of the Industry.

Zahirul Islam is serving as the director of several other companies including PHP Corporation Ltd, PHP Cold Rolling Mills Ltd, PHP Latex and Rubber Products Ltd, PHP Overseas Ltd, PHP NOF Continuous Galvanizing Hills Ltd, PHP Ship Breaking and Recycling Industries Ltd, PHP Fisheries Ltd, PHP Stock and Securities Ltd, and PHP Petro Refinery Ltd.

He is also a director at Pelican Properties Ltd, PHP Power Generation Plant Ltd, Bay Terminal and Distribution Company Ltd, PHP Float Glass Industries Ltd, Information Science and Technology Solutions Ltd, PHP Power Company Ltd, Dina Cold Storage Ltd, PHP Denim Ltd, and PHP Automobiles Ltd.

Zahirul Islam was born on July 4, 1982, in a noble Muslim family in Chattogram and obtained a Bachelor's degree in information technology from the University of Canberra, Australia. 

Earlier, he was a director of the Audit Committee, Claims Committee, Real Estate Committee and member of the Investment Committee of Popular Life Insurance Company Ltd.
