Budget-friendly phone with a smart design

The budget segment of smartphones is now more saturated than ever. With new releases every month, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to decide which one offers the best value for money. Infinix recently launched its latest device Hot 30 in Bangladesh on March 31. The device has already attracted consumers with its striking design and other features. Let’s take a look at the key specs, pros, cons, and price of Infinix Hot 30.

Design and Build

The Hot series from Infinix always experiments with design. And each year, their designs bring a breath of fresh air to the segment of budget-friendly smartphones. Holding this legacy, the design is perhaps the most striking quality of the Hot 30.

Weighing 196g, Infinix Hot 30 bears dimensions of 168.7mm by 76.6mm by 8.4mm.

The first thing a user will notice is the glossy back with refractive patterns. The angular curved lines give a 3D effect to the back and offer impressive light play in its color variants including Racing Black, Surfing Green, Sonic White, Free Fire, etc.

This year too Infinix has gone with an iPhone-like design with a boxy shape and flat edges. And if it’s any wonder, yes, the device can stand vertically.

The dual camera sensor along with the proprietary flash has been arranged in such a way that it exudes the triangular camera cutout of the iPhone. It’s not a complete rip-off, rather it gives the Hot 30 a distinct look with the refractive glossy back.

The device is made up of a glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame. The frame has a brushed chrome finish to give it an aluminum-like appearance. It does a great job of resisting fingerprints.

All the usual ports and button selections are here. Here you will find a power button, fingerprint scanner, volume rocker, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an extendable micro SDXC slot.

Display

Infinix Hot 30 comes with a 6.78-inch IPS LCD display featuring a 90 Hz refresh rate. The choice of LCD in this price segment is understandable. What matters is how well the panel is calibrated.

With resolutions of 1080 by 2460 pixels, Hot 30 has about 396 PPI density. The FHD+ display in testing looked sharp and crisp with better-viewing angles than the preceding Hot 20. The panel also has 500 nits of brightness with an additional 100 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM).

The Hot 30 can be a good choice for media consumption and day-to-day use. The high refresh rate combined with the crisp display makes it a pleasure to interact with.

Camera

Infinix Hot 30 sports a dual camera setup on the rear side. The main sensor is a 50 MP wide-angle shooter featuring f/1.6 aperture and a ½.55-inch lens size; while the secondary camera is unspecified.

The secondary shooter on the ancestor Hot 20 was a QVGA sensor so it’s likely that the one that comes with the Hot 30 is also a QVGA one.

Price

However, it doesn’t impact the camera performance significantly, as the main sensor works efficiently. There is a good detail and decent dynamic ranges in images captured in well-lit environments. The performance slightly falters in indoors and dimly lit environments. There may be hints of noise but that mitigates well if the Quad-LED flash is used.

The main sensor’s videography is rated at 1440P and 1080P at 30 fps.

There is also an 8 MP selfie shooter featuring an f/2.5 aperture. Users shouldn’t worry about the lighting as the selfie camera also comes with a dual-LED flash. The front camera can be used to shoot 1080p footage at 30fps.

Overall, the camera performance is satisfactory for the price. It may not be the best out there, but it is offering standard performance in this budget.

The Infinix Hot 30’s basic variant (4/128 GB) is priced at 14,999 BDT; while the upper variant (8/128 GB) costs about 17,499 BDT in Bangladeshi Market. However, the price is subject to change.

Processor and performance

Infinix Hot 30’s octa-core processor is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset based on the 12 Nm architecture. The processor has 2 cores with a Cortex-A75 design and a 2.0 GHz clock speed. Its rest 6 cores feature Cortex-A55 architecture with a 1.8 GHz clock speed. Even though the processor is an entry-level one, users can easily carry out day-to-day activities.

The graphic unit is provided with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Hot 30 offers 4 to 8 GB RAM with about 128 GB of internal storage.

The XOS 12.6 OS on top of Android 13 offers overall improved performance and lesser bloatware. Combined with the 90 Hz high refresh panel the OS offers a buttery navigation experience. The opening and loading times of apps are also fast.

Hot 30 is compatible with basic to moderate-level gaming. The device can run 3D and graphics-intensive games but only at mid-setup. Users will not be able to play titles like PUBG, Asphalt 9, or COD at high frame rates but the performance is passable. However, the device does get pretty hot after 30 minutes of gaming.

The gaming performance of the Hot 30 won’t stand out among the gaming-centric phones but it makes a niche of its own.

Battery and Charge Time

The battery on the Infinix Hot 30 is 5000 mAh. What’s new here is the 33W fast charging that comes in the box. Infinix claims that the device can go from 0 to 55per cent in 30 minutes. At full charge, the device can churn out around 6 to 8 hours of SoT (screen on time).

Verdict

The Infinix Hot 30 amends several drawbacks of the Hot 20. The design and build quality of the Hot 30 are sure to draw attention. The battery and the display are the clear strong selling point of the Hot 30. Users will also enjoy a standard display, cameras, and processor.

Though in the camera and processor segment, a bit more efficiency can be expected by many users, still what’s on offer will be more than enough for most. So, anyone looking for a budget-friendly device for day-to-day tasks may consider the Infinix Hot 30.
