Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate and moderately heavy rainfall or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind in all eight divisions of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9am Thursday.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy falls at several places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," said the weather bulletin issued Thursday morning, reports BSS.

The existing mild heat wave sweeping over Rangpur division and the districts of Tangail, Chuadanga, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra and Netrokona may continue, it added.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 36.7 degrees Celsius jointly at Rajshahi, Rangpur and Rajarhat. While, Thursday's minimum temperature 26.0 degrees Celsius was recorded jointly at Bandarban and Teknaf.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6am Thursday was recorded 16mm in Bandarban.

The sun sets at 6:48pm Thursday and rises at 5:21am Friday in the capital.
