Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted the ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue over five places in the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Jashore and Chuadanga and it may continue."
"Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture content, the discomfort may persist, "said the weather bulletin issued this morning, reports BSS.
"Light to moderate rain thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi Chattogram and Dhaka divisions and one or two places over Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," it added.
The country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga. Wednesday's minimum temperature 22.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kurigram.
Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am on Wednesday was recorded at 143mm jointly at Sylhet and Moulavibazar.
The sun sets at 6:44 pm on Wednesday and rises at 5:10 am on Thursday in the capital.
