Bangladesh has officially launched its National Adaptation Plan (NAP), a detailed roadmap to reduce vulnerability and protect people and assets from the adverse impact of climate change.

Ziaul Haque, a director of Department of Environment, Climate Change and International Convention Bangladesh, recently confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

The cabinet approved the NAP on October 10.

Before launching the NAP another Director Mirza Shawkat Ali said there are 113 projects which will be implemented within 2050. Some $233 billion will be required to carry out these operations, 52 per cent of which will be spent on water-related projects.

“If these actions remain undone, we won't be able to deal with the adverse climatic impact. Alongside our contribution, the international community who are accountable for climate change should also pay for it,” he added.

Different issues addressed in the NAP include agriculture, livestock, health, urban areas, forestry, and other sectors which are being affected by global warming and sea level rise.
