BEZA, BEPZA, BIDA pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu

Government organisations BEZA, BEPZA and BIDA on Sunday paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the National Mourning Day.

Remembering the day, the authorities concerned of these organisations took elaborative programmes including discussions and special prayer and placing floral wreath at the grave of Bangabandhu.

BEZA executive chairman, Shaikh Yusuf Harun, took part at a programme organised by the Gopalganj district administration and placed a wreath at the grave of the father of the nation on Sunday, said a press release.

Marking the day, BEZA also organised a discussion and special prayer in its Dhaka office. BEZA executive member Mohammad Irfan Sharif presided over the discussion in Dhaka. Officials and employees of BEZA attended the discussion and prayer.

Bangabandhu – the architect of the country’s independence -- was assassinated along with most of his family members at the dawn of August 15, 1975 by a cabal of army personnel following a deep-rooted conspiracy against the country and its independence.

His two daughters -- Sheikh Hasina, now the prime minister, and Sheikh Rehana -- survived the massacre as they were abroad at that time.

BEZA chairman said that August 15 was a day when the dreams of the Bengali people were shattered. He said that the opportunity to create a new nation following the war of independence was hit hard on the day and the entire country witnessed the extent of sorrow these events brought. He said that the assassination of Bangabandhu buried the dreams and hopes of the Bengali people.

Irfan Sharif in his address said that the country is now standing high amid hundred other countries of the world. Bangladesh is now on the verge of the fourth industrial revolution. It has created opportunities for employment of lakhs of people through planned and environment friendly industrialization. He praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her strong leadership in guiding the country towards massive development.

He further said that Bangladesh is now a role model when it comes to creating business and investment friendly environment in the country.

The Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Major General Md Nazrul Islam along with high officials of the body placed a wreath at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the BEPZA Complex premises on Sunday. Member (Engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, Secretary Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, General Managers of the Executive Office, and others staffs of BEPZA were also present on the occasion.

Commemorating the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu, BEPZA kept the national flag at half-mast at the BEPZA Complex.

BEPZA organised a discussion where attendees discussed the life and political activities of Bangabandhu in details.

Alongside this, documentary film on Bangabandhu’s life & works was shown on digital screen at the main entrance of BEPZA Complex throughout the day.

Eight EPZs under BEPZA -Chattogram, Dhaka, Cumilla, Ishwardi, Mongla, Uttara, Adamjee, Karnaphuli and BEPZA Economic Zone also observed the day with in due solemnity. The economic zones kept the national flag at half-mast and offered special prayer.

The executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Md Sirazul Islam and officials of the organisation also paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking the National Mourning Day.
