Common platform on cards to digitise transactions: Palak

The government is working to create a common platform to digitise the country's financial transaction system, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

He said this at a virtual discussion on Sunday organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to observe the National Mourning Day.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest at the event while President of BASIS Syed Almas Kabir presided over the programme.

A visual presentation on Bangabandhu was shown at the beginning of the programme,

Palak termed August 15 as the most shameful day in the history of the Bengali nation and the world.

He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy is the architect of Digital Bangladesh. There will be no red tape in the country’s system in the future, he said. The government is working to create a common platform to fully digitise the country's financial transaction system, Palak added.

The Department of Information and Communication Technology has made an animated movie on Bangabandhu titled Mujib Amar Pita and the movie will help young generation to know more about Bangabandhu, he added.

On the occasion, the minister recalled the contribution of BASIS and its member organisations in building digital Bangladesh. He sought the support of BASIS to create an alternative to Facebook.

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury was present at the programme as the special guest. He highlighted the government's success in introduction of digital media during the pandemic in the country’s education system.

He said that in order to build Bangabandhu's dream Bangladesh, a corruption-free Bangladesh must be built. Digital Bangladesh is the only solution in this regard and it will work as a vaccine against corruption, he added.

Member of Parliament Aparajita Haque was also present at the event as an honorable guest and speaker. She spokes on the life history of Bangabandhu and his contribution in establishing independent Bangladesh.

A special prayer was offered during the programme.
