EBL, BB sign deal on automated challan

All the branches and sub-branches of Eastern Bank Ltd. from now on will collect passport fees, VAT, tax and other government fees. EBL signed an agreement on Automated Challan System (ACS) with Bangladesh Bank on Thursday, said a press release.

Forkan Hossain, General Manager of Bangladesh Bank and Ali Reza Iftekhar, MD and CEO of EBL signed the agreement for their respective sides. Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Ahmed Jamal was present during the ceremony as the chief guest.

AKM Mohiuddin Azad, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, from EBL, Khorshed Anowar, DMD and Head of Retail and SME Banking, Masudul Hoque Sardar Chief Financial Officer, Ziaul Karim, Head of Communications and External Affairs and Safiqul Islam Zahid, Head, Financial Operations and Control and other senior officials from both the organisations were present at the event.

Earlier, to facilitate payments of various fees in all the branches through Automated Challan System, AB Bank signed a similar agreement with the Bangladesh Bank.

The service will allow to deposit VAT, tax, government fees and other payments. Under ACS, treasury invoices can be deposited through cash or through cheque at any AB Bank branch.
