UCB introduced the agricultural loans for farmers to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in Bangladesh.

This initiative has made the farmers smile. The loan disbursement ceremony was attended by Mong Circle Chief (Majesty) Sachingpru Chowdhury of Khagrachhari Hill District, Additional Managing Director of United Commercial Bank Arif Quadri, Deputy Managing Director Nabil Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director N Mustafa Tarek, Deputy Managing Director and company secretary ATM Tahmiduzzaman, Khagrachhari Fruit Owners Association President Divakar Chakma and other senior officials of United Commercial Bank, said a media release on Wednesday.

It said, although small ethnic groups are extremely poor or marginalized by all possible standards of human dignity and human development, agriculture is their only source of livelihood. In such a situation, United Commercial Bank has taken up this project to help the small ethnic farmers.

Farmer Vijay Bikash Chakma said, “I could never have imagined that I would get a loan without collateral. I am really very happy.

“This loan will play an important role in my spice cultivation. Moreover, I did not have to suffer in any way to get this loan. I would like to thank UCB Bank for that.”
