Summit Testing & Calibration Laboratory (STCL), a lab of Summit Power Limited, has received accreditation certificates from Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB).

Summit Power has been the country’s first independent power producer to receive testing and calibration accreditations for its in-house labs, says a press release.

At a function held recently, BAB Director General Md Monwarul Islam handed over the certificates to officials of Summit Power Limited recently.

The labs have been set up in Narayanganj to test and calibrate power plant’s instruments as per international standards.

With the accreditation, the autonomous government agency recongnised that the Summit lab maintains appropriate standards with integrity.

Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, the minister for industries, appreciated the Summit lab for maintaining required standard.

“The government encourages institutional capacity building of industries. We are pleased that Summit’s testing and calibration labs have taken the initiative to fulfill the requirements and is the first IPP to claim Bangladesh Accreditation Board’s certifications,” the minister was quoted as saying in the press release.

The release also added that the STCL is the only accredited laboratory in Bangladesh with capacity in the electrical testing. The lab can also calibrate gauge and sensors of both temperature and pressure, IR and glass thermometers, AC/DC of voltage and electric current.

Summit Power Limited (SPL) is one of the top independent power producers of Bangladesh and a publicly listed AAA rated company.

It is part of Summit Group that has a combined 1,941 MW installed capacity and supplies electricity to the National Power Grid.

Summit Power Limited has been consistent in issuing dividends since its enlistment in both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges in 2005. It has received five consecutive best power plant awards from the government of Bangladesh since 2013.
