Padma Bank Limited signed an agreement with Bangladesh Bank on automated challan system at Bangladesh Bank on Thursday.
Under the agreement, Padma Bank can receive government VAT, Tax, revenue, passport fees and other fees from branches and sub-branches, said a Padma Bank statement.
Bangladesh Bank General Manager Forkan Hossain and Padma Bank Managing Director and CEO Ehsan Khasru signed the agreement in presence of chief guest Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Ahmed Jamal.
Executive Director of the central bank Nurun Nahar presided over the agreement signing ceremony.
Ahmed Jamal said, ‘‘It’s a great opportunity for Padma Bank to serve its clients. As a result, with this automated challan system (ACS) taxpayers and citizens can pay their tax, VAT and other govt fees by using nationwide network of Padma Bank.’’
Ehsan Khasru thanked Bangladesh Bank authorities for providing such a wonderful opportunity. “At this time, Padma Bank Limited will reach one step ahead in gaining trust of the customers by providing this service,” he added.
