BPCL gets EFSA’s certification

Bangladesh Petrochemical Company Limited (BPCL) has been recognised by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for their ability to produce quality and safe recyclable products by collecting and processing waste materials.

Recently, EFSA on its official website published the issue of certification to this Bangladeshi company. This achievement will help Bangladesh fulfill its commitments under various agreements on climate change.

BPCL Managing Director Khadem Mahmud Yusuf said, “I am very proud of this recognition. We have successfully achieved another milestone in the journey of PET recycling. We are the first company in Bangladesh to get EFSA’s recognisation. Production in this process will help to reduce country’s environment degradation and will be beneficiary in the fight against pollution caused by plastic in the country.”

Bangladesh has recently announced that all food contact materials must be Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or EFSA certified. Recognition of BPCL is in line with the laws and norms laid down by the government.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Bangladesh Plastics Association have pledged to further enrich the plastics industry in the next few years. BPCL is also doing what is needed to fulfill the promises of the private sector.
