The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), one of the first founding members of SAFA observed the International Accounting Day 2021 on Wednesday.
A rally was brought out by the Dhaka Regional Committee-ICAB and attended by CA members and multitudes of pupil from different CA firms, public and private universities to commemorate the day, said a media statement.
The International Accounting Day on the 10th of November was observed by countries across the globe.
In light of this, the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), a forum of professional accounting bodies of SAARC countries, celebrates this day to illuminate the importance of accounting profession on November 10 every year.
According to the statement, November 10, happens to bear great significance for the accountancy community. Italian Mathematician and Franciscan friar, Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli authored a book titled “Summa de Arithmetica Geometria Proportioni et Propotionalita” (Everything about Arithmetic, Geometry and Proportion) which was published in Venice on November 10, 1494. First of its kind, the book aimed to summarise the mathematical knowledge of that time. It is considered to be the first printed essay on double entry book keeping called “Method of Venice” and was a direct base of some widespread works on mercantile accounting.
ICAB President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru, Chairman-Dhaka Regional Committee-, Selim Reza, Secretary AKH Hasif Sowdagar, and other members of DRC led the rally.
