DCCI, IBA to conduct sector wise business researches

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Dhaka will jointly conduct sector wise business research activities.

A memorandum of cooperation (MoC) was signed between DCCI and IBA in this regard on Tuesday, said a press release.

DCCI President Rizwan Rahman and Director of IBA Professor Mohammad Abdul Momen signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations at the DCCI office in the capital.

According to the agreement, mutually agreed training courses will be arranged for DCCI. Both institutions will also arrange different programmes including job fairs, seminars, workshops, and business conferences for skill development.  DCCI will provide internship opportunities for the students of IBA.

DCCI President Rizwan Rahman said now is the time to bridge the gap between industry and academia in the current era of rapid industrialisation,

“Skill development is the priority area for the government as well as for the private sector because, in order to compete with the global standard, we must have better skills in every sector,” he said.

Rizwan also urged for extensive research and development works under the universities so that they can contribute to the development nation’s economy.   

Besides IBA Professor Momen “We have to be competitive in terms of skills and education, to cope up with the changing global geo-political and technological transformation.”

He cited a few examples of some successful countries like the USA, Germany, Korea that are utilising their universities for extensive wide-ranging researches and innovation activities.

He invited the private sector to invest in the expansion of university research for the sake of industry development.

DCCI Senior Vice President NKA Mobin, Vice President Monowar Hossain and Director Golam Zilani were also present on the occasion.
