The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has recognised BRAC Bank as one of the highest tax payers in banking sector and awarded tax card for 2020-2021 fiscal year.

The bank was recognised with a tax card and a memento on being the 4th highest income tax payer in the banking sector category. BRAC Bank has long been one of leading contributors to the national exchequer, said a statement.

Senior Secretary, Internal Resources Division and NBR Chairman Abu Hena Rahmatul Muneem handed over the tax accolade to BRAC Bank’s Financial Controller Mohammad Abdul Ohab Miah at a grand ceremony at Officer’s Club in the capital on November Wednesday.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal was present at the programme while the bank’s Head of Regulatory Reporting and Taxation Mohammad Syed Bashir Ali was also present.

BRAC Bank’s Managing Director and CEO Selim RF Hussain said, “Good governance, compliance, ethics and transparency are the pillars of our business model. Tax compliance has been one of our major goals as we strictly ensure local and international accounting standard.

We aim to be a role model in tax compliance. And international credit rating by S&P, Moody’s, consecutive recognitions from SAFA, ICAB and ICMAB bear testimony to our good governance and compliance standard. We thank NBR for recognising BRAC Bank with this honour. We attribute this honour to the trust and support bestowed on us by our valued customers, shareholders and investors.”
