Akij Food and Beverages gets ‘Green Factory Award 2020’

Akij Food and Beverages Ltd. has received the ‘Green Factory Award 2020’ for ensuring the continuous use of environment-friendly technology to reduce carbon emission and creating sustainable working conditions.

The award was handed over on Wednesday morning at the capital’s Osmani Auditorium arranged by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually attended the event and expressed her opinions. She commended Akij’s initiative for environment-friendly technology and the proactive training of the workforce in environment-friendly practices, the company said in a statement.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufiyan and Labour Secretary Mohammad Ehsan Illahi presented the ‘Green Factory Award 2020’.

Akij Venture Group Managing Director & CEO Syed Alamgir received the award on behalf of the organisation.

According to the statement, the ministry has considered various metrics before providing the award. The metrics are – essential compliance, environmental compliance, institutional compliance and innovative activity.

Syed Alamgir said that Akij has been ensuring greenery, environment-friendly technology, and safe working environment for the workers. The award is the result of the company’s persistent efforts.
