Banglalink, one of the leading digital service providers of the country, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UCEP Bangladesh to provide free data packages to students and teachers of UCEP General School.
The initiative will support UCEP's digital learning process by facilitating its new education model of the E-Study Group, said a media statement on Sunday.
Erik Aas, chief executive officer of Banglalink, and Md Abdul Karim, executive director of UCEP Bangladesh, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations.
Taimur Rahman, chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer of Banglalink, Ankit Sureka, head of its Corporate Communications and Sustainability, and Mohammad Adil Hossain, head of Ethics and Compliance Operations and AML Program attended the signing ceremony.
On the other hand, Nazmun Nahar, director of Finance and Compliance Department of UCEP Bangladesh, and Shahariar Alam, deputy director of its Resource Mobilization, Knowledge Management, and Communication, among others, were present at the ceremony.
Under the arrangement, a selected number of UCEP Bangladesh teachers and students will receive free data for a year from the date of activation for online educational sessions.
Banglalink CEO Erik Aas said, “We believe that every child deserves equal access to education, and a proper schooling system is one of the preconditions of ensuring it. UCEP Bangladesh is running an exemplary program with this objective, and we are happy to be a part of it as a socially responsible organization.”
UCEP Executive Director Md Abdul Karim said his organization aims to provide learning opportunities to the underprivileged children and youth to address inequalities in education.
“We have adopted the E-Study Model to continue our students’ education through online classes and UCEP schools are still using these digital platforms. We want to thank Banglalink for their support and believe that both our teachers and students will benefit from this initiative,” he added.
