Bashundhara Group stood by the cold-hit poor in Magura district and in the capital’s Uttara.

As part of humanitarian gesture, blankets were distributed recently among distressed people in the above places amid bitter cold.

Having started in the northern region, the blanket distribution programme of the Bashundhara Group has expanded into other parts of the country, said a media release.

In Magura, 400 vulnerable people received the blankets in the field of the Primary Teachers Training Institute.

Panel mayor Makbul Hossain Makul attended the programme as the chief guest. Other dignitaries of the area were also present. They hailed the Bashundhara Group for protecting poor from the pinching cold. Receiving the blankets, various poor sections including rickshaw pullers and sweepers expressed happiness and gratitude.

In Uttara, 350 distressed people received blankets from the group. The blanket distribution programme was held on the premises of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) at 9:30am.

Early in the morning, insolvent people in the area flocked to the IUBAT campus to receive the blanket and left the spot with a smiling face.

Earlier in the day, Bashundhara Group distributed blankets among 600 people in Jashore Sadar upazila, 300 in Monirampur, 300 in Keshabpur, 200 in Chowgacha, 200 in Benapole, 200 in Bagharpara and 200 in Abhoynagar, added the release.
