BMCCI for reformation of overseas investment policy

The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) has placed a proposal to reform the existing overseas investment policy and make it business friendly.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Md Sirajul Islam responded to the proposal and endorsed it.

The development came when a BMCCI delegation, headed by its President Syed Almas Kabir, paid a courtesy call to the executive chairman at his office in Dhaka on Wednesday, said a press release.

During the meeting, Syed Almas Kabir proposed to take initiative to encourage more investment from Malaysia in Bangladesh through branding Bangladesh as well as holding trade and investment summit on regular basis.

He also urged to make space for BMCCI to contribute in Government policy making process and development of bi-lateral relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia. There was an interactive discussion about investment opportunities in abroad.

Referring to the recent circular of Bangladesh Bank on overseas investment policy, the BMCCI president said it is highly required to reform the policy in order to make it business friendly.

In response the BIDA executive chairman briefed about their ervices to potential overseas investors like One Stop Services (OSS), use of customized Apps etc.
