Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has urged Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) to repair the surrounding roads of the BGMEA Complex in the capital’s Uttara to ease communication of the people in the area.
A BGMEA delegation led by President Faruque Hassan met RAJUK Chairman ABM Amin Ullah Nuri at the RAJUK office on Thursday and made the call.
They also called for removing all illegal roadside establishments in the area for easy vehicular and commuter movement.
BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim and Md. Nasir Uddin, Director Tanvir Ahmed, and Md. Imranur Rahman were present at the meeting.
Faruque Hassan said BGMEA serves the RMG industry which is a major pillar of Bangladesh’s economy.
BGMEA provides important services to export-oriented garment factories including the issuance of Utilisation Declaration (UD).
A large number of officials from different garment factories travel to the BGMEA Complex daily for official purposes and suffer due to the broken roads, he said.
ABM Amin Ullah Nuri took note of the points and assured the BGMEA delegation of all necessary actions to repair the roads and remove illegal structures in the area in the next two months to improve road communications.
