Bangladesh Ambassador to Belgium Mahbub Hassan Saleh hosted a reception in honour of a delegation of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at his residence in Brussels on Tuesday.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan led the delegation which comprised Vice President Miran Ali, Directors Asif Ashraf, Tanvir Ahmed, and Abdullah Hil Rakib. High officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium also joined the programme.
They discussed various issues including the graduation of Bangladesh from LDC, possible changes in the tariff regime in export markets, and how to retain trade privileges in the post-LDC status. Faruque Hassan underscored the need for more economic diplomacy and deeper engagement with governments and stakeholders at the international level especially in the European Union so that the momentum behind Bangladesh’s economic growth continues after the country graduates from the LDC category.
He thanked the Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium for its proactive role in promoting the interests of Bangladesh in the European Union and also for hosting the reception.
