The joint US-UK Strengthening Political Landscape project awarded 26 young political leaders with certificates at the Young Leaders Fellowship Programme graduation ceremony in the capital on Thursday.
The project is being implemented by Democracy International, said a media release.
The graduates are affiliated with Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and Jatiyo Party (JP).
Graduating fellows completed a four-month training on different aspects of political knowledge, leadership skills, party building, democratic processes, and tolerance. They also accomplished joint field assignments solving community issues and demonstrating cross-party cooperation.
This is the 18th class of young leaders graduating from the Young Leaders Fellowship Programme (YLFP), which is made possible through support from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and implemented by Democracy International.
Economic Advisor to Prime Minister Dr Mashiur Rahman, BNP’s Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Jatiyo Party’s Presidium Member Rana Mohammad Sohail, and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson, USAID’s Acting Deputy Director (Office of Democracy, Human Rights and Governance) Medhawi Giri, and Democracy International’s Chief of Party Dana L Olds handed over certificates to the fellows.
