BUHS announces Tamanna Nura as its goodwill ambassador

Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) has announced Tamanna Nura, a physically challenged genius girl as its goodwill ambassador.

Prof Dr Faridul Alam, Vice-Chancellor of the university formally announced her name as the goodwill ambassador of the university in recognition to her extraordinary talents amid her life-long hardships. University will also award her a full scholarship during her education in Microbiology & Immunology honours programme.

Tamanna Nura has one leg with no arms from her birth. Despite this, she achieved GPA-5 in all of her public examinations including HSC in 2022 by writing with one leg.

She started her journey toward higher education at BUHS. In honour of Tamanna and her parents, a reception ceremony was held at the Ibrahim Auditorium of the University on April 23 while the Vice-Chancellor of BUHS was in the chair. Treasurer, deans of all faculties, and her father Rowshan Ali addressed the occasion.

Teachers, students, and employees of the university were present in the programme. Prof Alam said, Tamanna Nura has made a series of academic successes by tackling her physical obstacles, the university will provide a full scholarship for her study and a ram would be built for her movement. He added that BUHS would provide optimum waivers to the students with special needs for their bright future.

Tamanna expressed her gratitude for being a student at BUHS. She said, “I intend to be a microbiologist in order to contribute to the health care services of the country. Tamanna Nura was born at the village of Alipur in Jhikargacha upazila of Jashore. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has recently congratulated her on her brilliant success and has expressed to do all the best for her.
