Grameenphone unveils ‘GP Academy’

The country’s biggest telecom operator Grameenphone unveiled digital upskilling platform ‘GP Academy’ dedicated for the youths on Wednesday.

Collaborated with Telenor and Cisco, the mobile operator will run the platform in an effort to make country’s youth digitally skilled and prepared for the ongoing fourth industrial revolutions. The operator company held an unveiling program at GP house in the capital.

As the chief guest of the program, National Skills Development Authority Executive Chairman (Secretary) Dulal Krishna Saha expressed his full support for this unique initiative from Grameenphone.

He said, “I am delighted to see the participation from Grameenphone to support the very critical area of building skills through their technology and innovation. Such an initiative from the private sector will be impactful to upskill the youth and prepare them for real work.”

Telenor ASA EVP and Chief People and Sustainability Officer Cecilie Heuch also mentioned the potential of such an academy. She said, “Building future skills is crucial for building a sustainable tomorrow. Today I am delighted to be a part of the launch of Grameenphone Academy in collaboration with Telenor and Cisco.”

Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman said, “Grameenphone is pledged to utilize the youths’ potentiality by dint of technology, innovation and social impact programs in the country. We are trying to coordinate youth’s skills with various up skilling programs. Grameenphone will empower youths with future ready skills in the changing work areas with the platform.”
