Daraz donates 1000 reusable sanitary napkins

Daraz Bangladesh has recently donated 1000 reusable napkins to the gynaecology department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (ShSMC) on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Daraz Cares, a social concern of Daraz Bangladesh Limited initiated this program intending to support marginalized women who have limited access to such resources. Through this donation, Daraz will be assisting those women to maintain their menstrual hygiene during the postpartum period, Daraz Bangladesh said in a statement on Friday.

During the handover ceremony, DMCH Director Brig Gen Md Nazmul Haque and Head of Gynae and OBST Dr Nazma Haque were present from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, ShSMC Deputy Director Dr Md Saidurzzaman, Head of Department of Obs and Gynae Prof Dr Farhana Dewan and Head of Unit of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Prof Dr Munira Ferdausi were present on behalf of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.

On behalf of Daraz, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer AHM Hasinul Quddus Rusho, Legal and Policy Director Ismat Zerin Khan, CSR and Sustainable Development Manager Ahsan Jamil and CSR and Sustainable Development Senior Executive Mashiur Rahman were present during the handover ceremony.

In this regard, AHM Hasinul Quddus Rusho said, “It is high time that we start normalizing talking about menstrual hygiene. Daraz Bangladesh has always made consistent efforts toward curating innovative initiatives in support of the people of this nation.”

“This time, Daraz has taken yet another initiative through the donation of reusable napkins, and this initiative will be continued in the future. We hope that now a lot of women will have access to proper menstrual hygiene and the stigma surrounding the subject will gradually decrease,” he added.
