‘Local economy needs to be strengthened to sustain growth’

Government should take sustainable initiatives to strengthen the domestic economy, experts said at an international webinar on Tuesday.

The webinar was organised by the Entrepreneurial Economics Club of Dhaka School of Economics (DSCE), according to a press release published by the organisation.

Climate change, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War and the volatile global economy are raising the inflation rate in most parts of the world, degrading economic scenarios and creating sustainability issues, speakers at the webinar said.

Dr. Md. Iqbal Bhuyan from South Korea and Prof. Dr. Anusree Paul from Canada joined the webinar. Dr. Moazzem Hossain, Adjunct Associate Professor of Griffith University, Australia as Chief guest, described that research for economic development and the welfare of people are more critical.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Coordinator of the Entrepreneurial Economics Department of Dhaka School of Economics, is the session chair of the webinar.
