Abdul Haque conferred with ‘The Order of the Rising Sun’

Abdul Haque, a pioneer businessman of Bangladesh’s reconditioned car imports trade, has been conferred “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette” by Japan.

Japan Ambassador in Bangladesh Ito Naoki conferred the Order on behalf of his government during a ceremony at the Japan Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday, according to a press release issued Sunday.

Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI), former president Abdul Haque, and Haq’s Bay Automobiles Managing Director received the Order along with the other two Bangladeshis this year.

The conferral recognizes Haque’s outstanding contribution to promoting economic relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Bangladesh. He contributed to developing Japan-Bangladesh economic relations by tirelessly working to improve the business environment for Japanese companies in Bangladesh and building-wide networks with Bangladeshi companies.

The Order of the Rising Sun is a Japanese order established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji. The Order was the first national decoration awarded by the Japanese government, created on April 10, 1875, by decree of the Council of State. The badge features rays of sunlight from the rising sun.

Abdul Haque is an eight-time elected director of the country’s umbrella trade body FBCCI.
