Dhaka University (DU) Graduate Club, USA celebrated the centennial celebration of Dhaka University through a special event called “Reunion” on September 4 in Woodside, New York.

Consul General of New York Dr Monirul Islam was the chief guest of the program. “I’m here to celebrate this event as an ex-DU student, not as a Consul General,” he said. “I was eagerly waiting to meet up with the graduates and share my campus life with them,” he added.

The program started through a rally in Jackson Heights along with drums (dhols) and all registered members had t-shirts and hats, said a press release on Saturday.

After the rally, graduates gathered at Gulshan Terrace- a party center in Woodside. The formal program started with Bangladeshi and American national anthems. At the venue, participants celebrated the event with a cake, reminisced about their campus life, and performed several cultural segments.

“The aim of the event and the club is to establish a friendly and cooperative relationship among the graduates in the USA and that’s how we can help each other in every sector of life,” said by convener Md Masusul Islam. “Dhaka University created a spirit of verity, aesthetic, and luminous future in our hearts. With the spirit of DU campus, we want to make a guild between us,” he added.

Dhaka University Graduate Club, USA published a magazine named “Aparajoy” regarding the event. The magazine collaborated with informative writings, poems, and stories from the graduates. The magazine was composed by Silvia Saberin, Muhammad Shahidullah, and Mamun Rashid. The event was hosted by Mohua Parvin and Mohammad Safi.

Joint conveners Muhammad Shahidullah, Kohinoor Mukta, Mohsin Molla, Mohua Mouri, Mamun Rashid, and Silvia Saberin along with convener Md Masudul Islam made the event successful.
