Nasir Group chairman dies at 78

Eminent industrialist Nasir Uddin Biswas, founder of glass and melamine manufacturer Nasir Group of Industries, has passed away. He was 78.

He died at 11am Monday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

From a tobacco trader Nasir Uddin became an industrialist with the establishment of one industry after the other. Not all of them were successful in the beginning but his perseverance gradually made the businesses successful.

Nasir Uddin Biswas was honoured with "Business Person of the Year" award at the Bangladesh Business Awards in 2013. Nasir began his journey in business as a small trader in the 1970s and over time he built 15 factories that are making float glass, glassware, melamine, footwear, energy saving lamps and tobacco.

He will be buried at his family graveyard in his home district Kushtia after namaz-e-janaza at his factory premises in Tangail. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Zohr prayers on Monday.
