Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited has recently signed an MoU with Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) for establishing an ICT Academy.

The establishment will likely to create an extensive opportunity for the students to develop industry-oriented knowledge and ICT related efficiencies.

The MoU was signed through an event held at the VC office of the RUET campus on September 13, a media statement issued on Wednesday.

The third ICT Academy in Bangladesh is designed to facilitate students with advanced ICT knowledge, equipping them with the necessary skills for the future. Earlier, in April Huawei inaugurated the first ICT academy at BUET while an MoU was signed to establish its second ICT academy at KUET’s campus in August.

Vice Chancellor of RUET, Prof Md Sazzad Hossain, chaired the event as the chief guest.

Regarding the arrangement, he said, “If the country wants to keep the growth engine driven by the ICT industry running, then we must take care of this young population. Realizing this we have taken steps to establish an ICT academy in partnership with Huawei. I thank Huawei for stepping in and helping the youth of the nation.”

Country Director of Public Affairs and Communications Department of Huawei Bangladesh, Karl Yu Ying, along with other officials from Huawei Bangladesh, were present at the event.

“Huawei ICT academy will strive for excellence through a collaboration of young learners with academics and industry experts. Previously we launched the ICT Academy at BUET and KUET and the results have been amazing. Huawei is delighted to launch the Academy at RUET “ said Karl Yu Ying from Huawei Bangladesh.

Huawei will provide its enriched online learning platform with diversified courses to the students of RUET. RUET teachers will also get the opportunity to become Huawei certified trainers at this academy. The trained RUET teachers will coach the students afterwards.

It is mentionable that Huawei initiated ICT Academy, an Industry- academia cooperation project, back in 2013. At the moment, there are 1,500 such ICT academies run by Huawei in more than 90 countries around the world, including UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines. In total, 927 colleges and universities are involved in this initiative, benefitting thousands of learners from around the globe.
