The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) in collaboration with UNICEF Bangladesh organised a programme on Saturday, marking the ‘Meena Day-2022’.

Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Senior Secretary Aminul Islam Khan was present as the chief guest at the event held at the Primary Teachers' Training Institute, Dhaka, said a press release.

UNICEF Representative in Bangladesh Sheldon Yett joined the event as the special guest while DPE Director General Shah Rezwan Hayat presided over the programme.

Addressing the event Aminul Islam said, “Taking lessons from Meena and Raju, we have to build the country with the participation of both men and women simultaneously. We have to study with pleasure and must work on eradicating gender discrimination.”

Greeting all the children of the country, Sheldon Yett said, “We go to school because it is a matter of pleasure for us.”

Rezwan Hayat said that every teacher has to play a vital role to make school enjoyable for children and make them feel attracted to the institution.

“The teachers also have to ensure the quality of education for students,” he added.

After the discussion, Aminul Islam and martyred intellectual Abdul Alim's daughter Nuzhat Chowdhury told stories with children at the 'Golpo Bolar Ashor'.

The day's event was concluded with a cultural programme performed by the children.
