NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 ends successfully

“NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022” has successfully come to an end with the prize giving ceremony. The hackathon started on September 30 and lasted for 36 hours continuously.

The prize distribution ceremony of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 was held at the Auditorium of the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Saturday.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest while IUB Vice-Chancellor Tanweer Hasan was the guest of honor.

In his welcome speech, the Convener of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 Tanveer Hossain Khan said that more than 2 thousand contestants from 9 cities of the country participated in the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022.

“Two years earlier, our country’s young competitors became world champions. And I hope the winning streak will continue,” said IUB VC.

While speaking as the Chief Guest, Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, standing on the threshold of the fifth industrial revolution, the importance of competitions like the NASA Space Apps Challenge is undeniable.

In the concluding speech, BASIS President Russell T Ahmed said, scientists are not role models in our country but for the development and prosperity of a country, it is very important to create scientists.

“I want to create a museum with the best projects of NASA Space Apps Challenge held in the past years, where school-college students can come and get inspiration to become scientists,” Ahmed added.

Mohammad Mahdee-uz-Zaman and Ariful Hasan Opu, Adviser of NASA Space Apps Challenge, among others spoke at the event.

Winners of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022: Dhaka- Champion: Interstella, Runner-up: Team Chayapath, 2nd Runner-up: Team Jantrik, Chittagong- Champion: Oikka, Runner-up: Space Eye, 2nd Runner-up: Blue Marble , Rajshahi- Champion: Team Payback, Runner-up: Green Earth, 2nd Runner-up: Team Kryptonite, Cumilla- Champion: Diamond, Runner-up: Exception Zero, 2nd Runner-up: Team Sea Waves, Sylhet- Champion: Team Ikarus, Runner-up: Mrittika, 2nd Runner-up: Team Poppin, Khulna- Champion: Invisible Material, Runner-up: Team Graviton, 2nd Runner-up: Live in Mongal (Mars), Barisal- Champion: Prehim Pro, Runner-up: Save Earth, 2nd Runner-up: Wastech, Rangpur- Champion: Fly High, Runner-up: Parker’s Crew, 2nd Runner-up: Cosmic Curators, Mymensingh- Champion: Redshift, Runner-up: Buet-Navochari, 2nd Runner-up: Inception Last Hope.

The competition was jointly organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and information Services (BASIS) and BASIS student’s forum.

The two-day hackathon was held at the IUB with tops 110 projects. Of the 110 projects, 50 were present through hybrid model and rest was presented in online.
