Eminent nephrologist Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid has been accorded Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Gold Medal 2020 by Dhaka Ahsania Mission for his outstanding contribution to the field of treatment service.
The Medal was handed over to him in a ceremony held at Dhaka Ahsania Mission Auditorium in Dhanmondi of the capital on Thursday, said a statement.
National Professor AK Azad Khan was present at the ceremony as the chief guest while Dhaka Ahsania Mission President Kazi Rafiqul Alam presided over the programme.
Dr Harun-Ur- Rashid said, “We are working on how to reduce the cost of kidney dialysis and to diagnose and cure kidney disease at its earliest stage. Making people aware is a very difficult task. We continue to do this difficult work.”
He also said that it is necessary to do a urine and blood sugar test only after the age of 40 years and advised to walk for 30 minutes every day.
Founding VC of Bangladesh Open University and South-East University and renowned Nuclear Scientist Professor Dr M Shamsher Ali, MD of Kidney Foundation Hospital and Research Institute Tini Ferdous Rashid were discussants in the event.
The brief introduction of the gold medallist was read by Dhaka Ahsania Mission Vice President Professor Dr Kazi Shariful Alam. The welcome speech was given by Executive Committee member Dr M Ehsanur Rahman.
Since 1985, Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been awarding the Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Gold Medal to a national level personality every year to recognise the talent and contribution of contemporary personalities.
