The High Commission of India, Dhaka hosted Ayurveda Day 2022 on October 23 at the Chancery premises with the active presence of the representatioves
from Hamdard. Around 85 participants related to Ayurveda and Alternative Medicines attended the event.
The notable attendees of the event were Deputy MD Hamdard Group Md Zamal Uddin, Vice-Chancellor Hamdard University Prof Faruque-Uz-Zaman Chowdhury, Principal Govt. Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital Dr. Swapan Kumar Datta. Many Professors, Teachers and Students of Hamdard University and Govt. Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka, attended the function.
While the DGME stressed on Post-Graduation/PhD in Ayurveda discipline, VC Hamdard University called Ayurveda the mother of all medicines. Principal of Govt. Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital spoke about the benefits of Ayurveda for humankind.
Around 59 Bangladeshi students have availed of fully paid AYUSH (Ayurveda Yoga Unani Siddha Homeopathy) scholarships provided by Indian
Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in various Govt. insitutions in India, in Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and PhD levels. But these students have not yet been granted practitioner’s licence in Bangladesh, the fact of which was highlighted to the authorities present.
Second Secretary (Education & Consular) of High Commission of India to Bangladesh, Mr. Rajinder Singh, interacted with DGME Officers, participants and students during the event.
He narrated the importance of Ayurveda in our daily life, stressing that the relationship between Bangladeshi Ayurvedic institutions and High Commission of India should continue to grow and that Ayurveda should serve and propagate among the masses in Bangladesh.
