Call for sending skilled workers abroad

The director general of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment, and Training (BMET), Md Shahidul Alam, has urged sending more skilled workers abroad.

He made the call while addressing an Ami Praobashi Limited training workshop after inaugurating it on Sunday. The event was organised by the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) at BAIRA Bhavan in Iskatan, Dhaka.

He said, “If the worker is skilled, he will get good job opportunities abroad and can contribute to the development of his family, society and country by sending more remittances.

“If remittances increase, the country will benefit and development will increase. Recruiting agency owners should take more steps to provide training on various trades to produce more skilled workers.”

BAIRA Senior Vice President Reaz-ul-Islam presided over the programme. BAIRA Vice President Mohammed Abul Barakat Bhuiyan, Secretary General Shameem Ahmed Chowdhury Noman, Joint Secretary General-2 Akbar Hussain Monju, Joint Secretary General-3 Md Tipu Sultan and other BAIRA officials were also present.
