Presidency University’s Office of the Students Affairs, Presidency University Career School and the Department of CSE jointly held a roundtable discussion titled ‘CSE Education for Developing Skills: Context of 4IR in Bangladesh’ at a hotel in Dhaka recently.
On the occasion, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Dr Bikarna Kumar Ghosh was present as the chief guest, said a press release.
Prof Dr Syed Akhtar Hossain, Vice-President, Bangladesh Society for Private University Academics was present as the keynote speaker and Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of Presidency University Prof Dr Mohammad Muniruzzaman presided over the programme.
Md Ruhul Amin, Registrar of Presidency University, delivered the welcome speech in the meeting. Renowned educationists and various senior officials of IT industry of Bangladesh participated in the discussion session.
The panellists mentioned that the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) should emphasise practical teaching of electronics and information technology to automate production. Also, 4IR has started using artificial intelligence (AI), digitisation, biotechnology and global connectivity and has accelerated the entire management including production and management.
The discussants in the meeting mentioned that while moving towards a developing economy, the challenges of Bangladesh are to transform the infrastructure of work-oriented education programmes and to develop students’ skills in order to build the talent required for an innovative, digitalised and growth-oriented economy.
Bangladesh has achieved significant success in industrial growth in the last 30 years, through which Bangladesh can directly join the fourth industrial revolution using advanced technology, they said.
