A delegation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) paid a courtesy call on Dr Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan at the latter’s office on Friday.
The delegation was led by its President Md Shahadat Hossain FCA while the other members were Vice Presidents NKA Mobin FCA and Fouzia Haque FCA.
The ICAB delegation drew the prime minister’s attention over extending cooperation from the ICAB to prospective Bhutanese students who would be willing to pursue their career as chartered accountants in Bangladesh, said a press release.
During this visit, the team informed him about the advantages of studying CA course in Bangladesh. They also expressed their interest to provide all kind of supports to the Bhutanese government toward development of the CA profession in Bhutan.
In response, the Prime Minister welcomed ICAB’s initiative of extending cooperation to Bhutanese students and expressed his willingness for cooperation in this regard.
The delegation also informed him about ICAB’s global positioning in IFAC, IASB, IESBA, CAPA, SAFA, ICAEW, CIPFA, and CA ANZ.
Besides, in another meeting on the same day, the ICAB team met Kinzang Wangmo, general secretary of Accounting and Auditing Standards Board of Bhutan and discussed various issues of professional development.
