BCCCI holds 15th AGM

Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) held its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Dhaka Club in the capital on Wednesday, said a press release.

Speaking there, BCCCI President Gazi Golam Murtoza said they have been playing a significant role in trade and investment between Bangladesh and China since 2003.

“We have to overcome many challenges following the Covid-19 pandemic, Russia-Ukraine war, and the high Dollar rate against the Taka. Amid many challenges, we are continuing our activities successfully,” he said.

Murtoza added that the bridge between Bangladesh and China has created a new opportunity in terms of trade and investment.

BCCCI Acting Secretary General Al Mamun Mridha said the trade and investment relations between the two countries have come to an apex level through their innovative activities.

“We arranged a series of events online and offline during the pandemic period. We discussed policies and trade. We hope that our relations with our Chinese friends will improve in the coming days,” he said.

He also stated that there is a huge opportunity for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs in the Chinese market.

Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB) President Ke Changliang said the infrastructure of Bangladesh has developed immensely. Many China companies played a significant role here.

“We have long worked in Bangladesh for social and economic development. We sped up our relations with Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi entrepreneurs have a great chance in China market,” he said.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman urged China investors to invest more in Bangladesh.

“In general, Bangladesh is an investment potential location for foreign investments. We will build 100 economic zones to diversify products and export. So, there is huge scope for investment,” he added.

Kalam also said that they will work cordially with BCCCI to support further promoting trade and investment.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Member Avijit Chowdhury, and BCCCI Senior Vice President Brig Gen Shah Md Sultan Uddin Iqbal also spoke at the AGM among others.
