Northern University holds int’l conf on business management

A two-day international conference on ‘Business Management and Social Sciences: Challenges and Ways Forward in the Post-Pandemic Era’ (ICBMSS-2022) was organised by the Northern University Bangladesh at its permanent campus in Ashkona on Thursday.

The main objective of the conference was to promote research and development in the fields of business management, economics and social sciences, which can contribute to the sustainability of business, industry and society in the post-Covid era, said a press release.

More than 93 researchers, academicians and corporate experts from 07 countries including India, Malaysia, Germany, the USA, China, Turkey and Bangladesh participated in the conference and presented their research papers on various contemporary issues.

Speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the conference, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said, the pace of Bangladesh’s development will be smooth if the universities strengthen research activities in the socio-economic context.

“World’s top universities spend a lot of time and money on research and the government can also adopt their research findings and use them in policy-making activities if necessary”, he said.

The development goals of the country will be accelerated if other private universities also come forward in this regard, the minister said and appreciated the Northern University for organising the conference.

“We are all aware of the harmful effects of Covid-19. It has also affected the businesses of Bangladesh like other countries. Hopefully, this conference will discuss ways and solutions to overcome this challenge”, he added.

The event was chaired by Northern University vice-chancellor prof Dr Anwar Hossain where the chairman of the board of trustees prof Dr Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah was also present as the special guest.

The opening ceremony was also attended by vice-chancellor prof Dr Nazrul Islam, treasurer Ekramul Islam, registrar Commodore (retd) M Monirul Islam, controller of examinations Habibun Nahar, IT director Saad Al Jabir Abdullah and NUB trust member Labiba Abdullah.
