Bank Asia celebrates 9th anniversary of agent banking

Bank Asia Limited recently celebrated the 9th founding anniversary of its agent banking service.

The bank organised a celebratory program at its corporate office located in Rangs Tower, Purana Paltan, Dhaka on 22 January 2023, said a press statement.

Romo Rouf Chowdhury, chairman of Bank Asia, inaugurated the celebration by cutting a cake in the presence of the members of the bank’s board of directors.

Among others from the bank, President & Managing Director Adil Chowdhury, Chairman of the Board Executive Committee Rumee A Hossain, Chairman of the Board Audit Committee Dilwar H Choudhury, Directors Tania Nusrat Zaman, Ashraful Haq Chowdhury, Md Abul Quasem, Additional Managing Director Shafiuzzaman, Deputy Managing Directors Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, SM Iqbal Hossain and Alamgir Hossain were also present on the occasion.

To celebrate the anniversary, the bank arranged “Strategic Business Meet-2023” for district managers, launched a special campaign titled “Financial Inclusion, Empowerment of Women”, and introduced a new deposit scheme named “DPS-100”. 

Bank Asia pioneered agent banking in Bangladesh, claimed the press statement, adding that the organisation rolled out the service on January 17, 2014, aiming to facilitate the ongoing financial inclusion initiatives through bringing more unbanked people in the banking network across the country.
