‘Ex-MD Mehmood Hossain resigned over personal issue’

National Bank Limited on Thursday said that its former Managing Director Mehmood Hossain wasn’t forced to quit, rather he resigned from his post citing ‘personal cause’.

The bank came up with the remarks in a press statement protesting recent media reports that stated Mehmood Hossain was forced to quit his post.

Several negative data over interference of Shikdar Group in the National Bank Limited was published in different media reports which are completely fake, the bank said.

The bank operates following all the regulations imposed by the Bangladesh Bank, it added.

Mehmood Hossain submitted his resignation letter to the managing body on January 18, after attending a meeting of the managing committee on recovery and non-performing loans on January 16, the bank stated.

Later, he was asked to explain different issues that were raised by the audit committee at the meeting, the bank added.
