NRBC Bank won ‘The Global Economics Awards-2022’ under two categories in a programme hosted by The Global Economics Ltd, a UK-based financial publication and a quarterly business magazine on Thursday.
The Bank was crowned with the title of ‘Most Innovative Mobile Banking App (NRBC Planet)’ and `Fastest Growing Micro-Finance Bank’ at the prize-giving ceremony, said a press release on Saturday.
NRBC Bank Chairman SM Parvez Tamal received the prestigious awards at the colourful event in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.
AKM Mostafizur Rahman and Mohammed Nazim, directors of NRBC Bank, Golam Awlia, managing director and CEO, Didarul Haque Miah, head of ICTD and CTO of NRBC Bank were also present at the ceremony.
NRBC Bank is one of the trendsetters in the banking industry of Bangladesh making the best use of information technology. NRBC Bank launched a special micro-credit programme in March, 2021 for marginalised people of rural areas of the country. More than 50,000 people have already received micro-loans. The ‘Fastest Growing Micro Finance Bank-2022’ has been awarded in recognition of the rapid expansion of this service.
Besides, NRBC Bank Limited launched its innovative mobile app “NRBC PLANET” to bring comfort and mobility to banking services in 2019. Through this mobile app account holders will get numerous banking services such as notifications, fund transfers, credit card bill payments, top-up services, balance inquiries, touch point locator, product information, branch information, and EMI/ discount partners easily. For the first time, NRBC customers can withdraw cash from any branch or booth using the App QR code facility. The ‘Most Innovative Banking Mobile App (NRBC Planet) -2022’ has been awarded in recognition of the innovation in services.
The business magazine, which gave thoughtful insights into the financial sectors of various industries across the world, identified the best performers in various financial sectors worldwide and picked them for the country-specific Annual Global Economics awards programme.
After winning the awards, the bank’s Chairman SM Parvez Tamal said, “NRBC Bank is far ahead in the industry in financial, innovation and governance parameters.
