Shippers’ Council holds AGM in Dhaka

Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) held its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Dhaka Club Limited in Dhaka on Saturday.

The AGM was presided over by SCB Chairman Md Rezaul Karim that reviewed the performances of the Council last year, said a press release.

Besides, the meeting also discussed the overall situation of the country amid the economic crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. The Shippers’ Council expresses its sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for playing a vital role to resolve and deal with the economic challenges of the country.

The involvement and progress of the council’s activities with the Asian Shippers Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers Alliance (GSA) were also discussed at the AGM where Md Rezaul Karim, chairman of SCB was congratulated for being re-elected as the Vice-Chairman of ASA for the term 2022-2024.

A significant amount of food items were distributed as a relief to the flood-affected people in different areas of the country, said members of the board of directors at the AGM while the Chairman of the Shippers Council of Bangladesh was congratulated for being included as a member in the “National Logistics Development and Coordination Committee”

The committee was formed by the Prime Minister’s Office to achieve national growth targets, increase capacity in trade and investment, and ensure efficient transportation of goods and overall development of the logistics sector.

Senior Vice Chairman Md Ariful Ahsan, Vice Chairman AKM Aminul Mannan (Khokon) and Directors along with other members also attended the meeting.
